Went there to schedule a hitch appointment for a GMC terrain. They installed it and we went home thinking we were happy. Discovered two days later when we went to use it that they missed two entire bolts and our hitch carrier bottomed out three times during our camping trip because it was so poorly installed. Went back to U-Haul when we returned from camping to demand that they fix it. They seemed genuinely surprised that it had been messed up and rescheduled us two days later to fix it. They promised they would do it right away and be done in 30 minutes. Well 2 days later, they remembered none of that and now want us to drop our lives and go without a car for today until they can get to it. Totally pissed off. We gave up, demanded the missing parts and did it ourselves. Thanks for nothing U-HAUL. Now we get to fight for some of our money back.

After driving eight hours and five hundred miles to pickup my 6x12 enclosed cargo trailer for a move to Nashville I arrived around 4:55 on a Sunday after getting stuck in labor day traffic to find that this location had already closed. The locations states that I arrived at 5:03. Regardless, the location was closed, doors locked, lights off, registers closed with a customer still on the schedule to pick up a trailer. As I mentioned before, this was a Sunday. The U Haul costumer service representative was very helpful, but could not answer my question as to where else I could find an enclosed 6x12 trailer at 5:00 on a Sunday. She forward me to scheduling and they informed me that the only other enclosed trailer was 30 minutes away in Niles, and it was smaller. After spending nearly $300 in gas round trip and $230 on a smaller 5x9 trailer I could not fit everything. U Haul did not offer any compensation because they claimed that I arrived at 5:03. Now I'm forced to make another weekend trip to retrieve the rest of my belongings and I will not be using this U Haul location, and most likely will not be returning to the U Haul brand.

The scheduling of a hitch installation was the only thing that went right. That’s because I scheduled online. Dealing with the actual store and manager was terrible. Got hitch installed over a week late. Showed up on scheduled day and was told no one there to install. Was never contacted or informed about this even though manager told me that we were informed prior. Eventually got it installed and 2 days later found out the wiring was not correct for the lights. Went back to store and left message for manager to contact me. Two days later called customer service again. I had called for both the delay in install and the wiring issue. Both time attempted to talk to manager before calling customer service and both time did not hear back from manager until after customer service action was filed. I do not know how places like this stay in business. I will never deal with U-Haul anywhere again. I will pull a trailer myself or carry stuff on my back before I would ever deal with U-Haul again!!!

The mix up happened because when you call the provided Benton harbor phone number you magically get directed to a "call center" that schedules the appointment for the workers without questioning their work load first... Amazing. Huge waste of time.

When I first arrived to rent my one-way trailer rental I was impressed by the customer service I was receiving, unfortunately it didn't end was well as it started.

Do not call and schedule anything. I recommend going to the actual store and talking to the workers if you have no other choice of company to work with. Ended up going to the competitors for the hitch. Great Job U-haul!!!

Key advice for renting from this location, MAKE SURE whatever the teller says is actually true and in writing. Customer service is EVERYTHING, and unfortunately, these guys are now rating VERY low in my opinion.

When I rented the trailer I specifically ask if I could be credited the price difference if I returned the trailer before the allotted 4 days and was told I would be credited the difference. Upon returning the trailer at another location and being told they couldn't credit me when I got home (after 6 phone attempts to speak with the manger, Terrill) I stopped back here to sort out the situation and was informed that they never do that and I would not be getting a credit back. Terrill, the manager just kept saying we never do that, you're not buying days you're buying a change of inventory locations and the number of days does not effect the price. He said if I would have needed more days and ask for that he could have given me that "but we never credit an early return".

Scheduled an appointment to get a hitch put on a week in advance. Went to drop off the vehicle just to find out they moved my appointment to 5 days later without ever calling me(the paying customer). Not happy with u-haul at the moment.
